My second Graduation Ceremony

Well, finally I decided to attend my Graduation ceremony to get my MSc degree from the chancellor and not in absentia. As you might be aware you are allowed to proceed onto a PhD program only with a Bachelor's degree provided you have good results and your degree is from a UK institution. Although some people decide not to do Master's, but I went for it because I believe it is a necessity.

It has been a major turning point in my life. I got to know one of the most amazing academics who became my Master's supervisor. She is a professor of Wireless communications, author of many significant papers in the field and whom has contributed to several industrial projects. Professor Hu gave me a full PhD offer right after I started my Master's and it was her who really encouraged me to passionately pursue my Master's.

Having said that I was a bit disappointed with the mark she gave me for my first project but then it wised me up to do a better Project and with all her advice I could finish my MSc project just in time. She gave me confidence to apply to other places to try my chances and I found myself having 8 brilliant PhD offers from great Universities. I wish I could have stayed with her and I am sure it was a wise choice for me but I really wanted to change my institution and live in a different city. I chose the University of London and I am very happy with my decision since I could get sponsorship from British Telecommunication and this is a real achievement.

It was during my Master's when I started working for big vendors such as Sun Microsystems. I also did two winning projects and one of them is soon to be registered as a patent. I published a paper in the area of robotics and artificial intelligence. I was invited to present my project at the UCISA conference as a delegate where many fantastic companies such as Sun, Nokia, IBM, Oracle, Microsoft, Ricoh and Google where present.

For all these reasons and many others which is out of the scope of this post, I highly recommend doing Master's.
